Teriyaki Steak with a Twist

A simple homemade teriyaki marinade with gin gives a special flavor bump and tenderness to flank steak. Serve Teriyaki Steak with a Twist as an appetizer or entrée at your next dinner party.

  • 2 pounds Certified Angus Beef ® flank steak
  • 2-inch piece of fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 cloves crushed garlic
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon gin
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  1. Mix together ginger, garlic, sugar, soy sauce, gin, salt and pepper in a zipper-locking bag. Add flank steak and marinate for 8 hours or overnight.
  2. Grill flank steak to medium-rare. Allow steak to rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
  3. In saucepan over medium-high heat, bring butter and marinade to a boil. Boil for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Slice flank steak diagonally, against the grain, in 1/4-inch slices. Put slices in hot sauce.
  5. If serving as an entrée, place beef in a mandarin pancake or flour tortilla with Asian slaw or julienned fresh veggies and fresh cilantro.
  6. If serving as an appetizer, cut the slices in half and serve on small party rolls.
