Our Commitment
Dedicated to Humane Animal Care and Climate-Friendly Practices
Your beef tastes better when it’s raised by family farmers and ranchers who prioritize caring for the land, the cattle and the community.
Here’s how it’s done:

Caring for Cattle
We consider Beef Quality Assurance certification our baseline for cattle care. This ensures cattle are handled in a safe, humane and environmentally sustainable way.

Caring for Cattle
When it comes to animal care, the right way is the only way.
Family farmers and ranchers give their cattle the best care possible. It’s not just their job. It’s fueled by a deep-seated passion to raise the best beef for your family. After all, that’s how they provide for theirs. Caring for animals isn’t just a chore—it’s a way of life.

At Certified Angus Beef, our baseline standard for animal care is the (BQA) Beef Quality Assurance Certification program.
BQA provides farmers and ranchers with educational resources and verifies through testing that anyone who handles cattle are working to follow best practices for humane animal care.

Meet the Walter Family
The Walters are ranchers and animal care experts who raise Angus cattle in Colorado to supply the Certified Angus Beef ®️ brand.
Our Commitment to
Cattle Care
- Taking care of cattle is more than a responsibility. It’s fundamental to our values and inherent in our character. We connect leaders and experts from gate to plate, helping them understand and implement the best practices necessary to deliver high-quality beef.

Improving the Environment
Cattle ranchers protect vital ecosystems.
The grasslands where cattle graze are vital ecosystems. Keeping family farmers and ranchers on these lands is crucial to maintaining and enhancing the environment.

Where Buffalo Roamed
Hundreds of years ago, bison traversed the prairies. Their grazing stimulated grass to grow. Their manure fertilized the land. As the herds moved, grasses had long periods of rest to grow and recover while sequestering carbon from the air. Today, cattle ranchers mimic this natural process by managing grazing lands carefully.
Without cattle, grasslands would disappear and this vital ecosystem—responsible for sequestering carbon, protecting the landscape, filtering water, and providing a home for diverse species of plants and wildlife—would disappear as well.
Cattle and Ducks: A Surprising Symbiosis
Cattle and ducks may seem to be an unlikely combination, but both need common resources to thrive: grass and water. See how Working Grasslands Conservation Initiative, a collaboration between Certified Angus Beef and Ducks Unlimited, is making improvements to the environment on North Dakota ranches.
Caring for the Land, Ensuring the Future
The Blythe family raises Angus cattle in Kansas to help provide families like yours with Certified Angus Beef. Like most ranchers, they believe in caring for the land with the future in mind to provide for their cows and for their family.
Our Commitment to the
Environment
- We believe resources should be used mindfully, and everyone can contribute to positive change and a brighter future. We see it as our responsibility to take good care of the land on which our livelihoods and community rely. We also support conservation efforts, recognize those who excel in sustainable beef production and help educate supply chain partners on sustainable practices.

Building Stronger Communities
Farms and ranches support communities with more than food; they provide jobs, enhance rural economies and care for the land to improve the local environment. Strong communities are inherent to rural life and community is a pillar of Certified Angus Beef.

Rural Relif Fund
The Certified Angus Beef Rural Relief Fund supports farmers and ranchers across the nation in times of crisis, often in the wake of natural disasters. In 2022, the Rural Relief Fund contributed more than $80,000 to communities in need.

Service Starts at Home
Certified Angus Beef encourages community service by engaging as a team in annual service projects and providing each staff member with paid community service hours to make an individual contribution to their communities.

Looking ahead to the Next Generation
Farmers and ranchers make today’s decisions based on what will be best for their animals, their land and their families decades into the future. The same is true at Certified Angus Beef as the brand works to inspire and educate the next generation of ranchers, chefs, beef industry professionals and everyone who enjoys beef.
Our Commitment to

- Relationships are at the heart of our business, and building better communities starts by encouraging our own team members to create meaningful, positive changes. We know a supportive atmosphere, with a holistic approach to wellness, allows passion and purpose to flourish. We empower and educate tomorrow’s pioneers by connecting them with today’s leaders. Given the tools and support to pursue their passions, young ranchers, beef professionals and chefs can secure a positive future for the entire beef community.
