Country Fried Steak Fingers

Ingredients:
  • 1 pound Certified Angus Beef ® cube steak, cut into 1-inch wide strips
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt, divided
  • 1 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper, divided
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 cups Canola oil for frying
Instructions:
  1. In a small baking dish, whisk together 1-teaspoon salt, 1/2-teaspoon pepper, buttermilk and egg. Marinate beef strips in mixture for 30 minutes.
  2. Combine mustard and honey in a small bowl; set aside.
  3. In a second small baking dish or loaf pan combine flour with remaining 1-teaspoon salt, remaining 1/2-teaspoon pepper, paprika, garlic powder and onion powder.
  4. Remove beef from marinade one piece at a time, dredge in seasoned flour, place on a wire rack fitted over a sheet pan.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or Dutch oven filled 2-inches high to 350°F. Prepare a large plate topped with several paper towels. Fry in two batches 3 to 4 minutes or until breading is golden brown. Place steak fingers on prepared plate.
  6. Serve steak fingers with honey Dijon dipping sauce.
