  • 1 1/2 pounds Certified Angus Beef ® ground beef, 80% lean
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt, divided
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 (4-ounce) can mild diced roasted green chiles
  • 1 (4-ounce) can hot diced roasted green chiles
  • 1/2 cup Mexican lager (like Corona ®)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices white American cheese
  • 2 cups shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 4 hamburger buns
  1. Form ground beef into 4 patties; refrigerate.
  2. Melt butter in a 2-quart saucepan over medium heat; add onion, garlic and 1/2-teaspoon salt. Sauté 4-5 minutes or until onions become translucent. Stir in cumin and flour; cook 1-2 more minutes. Add both cans of green chiles and stir for another minute.
  3. Stir beer into chili mixture while constantly stirring, reduce heat to low and simmer 5 minutes; remove from heat and keep warm.
  4. Season burgers on both sides with remaining salt and black pepper. Pan sear or grill over medium high heat for 4-5 minutes on one side, flip and top each burger with green chile sauce and cheese slices. Cook an additional 4-5 minutes or until the internal temperature is 160°F.
  5. Place shredded lettuce on the bottom of each bun, top with burger and bun top.
