  • 1 small green bell pepper, seeded and finely diced
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup pasteurized cheese spread (like Cheese Wiz ®)
  • 4 Kaiser or hoagie buns
Instructions:
  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet on medium-high heat, sauté peppers and onions 3-5 minutes until onions begin to brown; transfer to a medium mixing bowl and refrigerate to chill completely.
  2. Add ground beef to chilled peppers and onions, hand mix and form four equal patties (make shape oblong if using hoagie buns). Season both sides of patties with salt and pepper.
  3. Pan sear or grill burgers 4-5 minutes on one side, flip and top each with 2-tablespoons cheese spread. Continue cooking 4-5 minutes until burgers reach 160°F internal temperature.
