Everything you love about the flavors of a classic sandwich but now with an appropriate amount of each ingredient in every bite-- plus speedy prep. Pro tip: have all the ingredients ready to go and flat top heated and your sandwiches are ready in 10 minutes! 75% lean ground beef is ideal for this recipe, 80% lean is more commonly available and works great too!

  • 1 1/2 pounds Certified Angus Beef ® 75% lean ground beef (preferred)
  • 1 teaspoon coarse kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh cracked pepper
  • 2 teaspoons dried Italian herb mix
  • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 1 teaspoon granulated onion
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 hero rolls
  • Italian flat leaf parsley, chopped (optional)
  1. SEAR BEEF. Preheat a flat top griddle or 12-inch cast iron pan to medium high until lightly smoking. Spread out ground beef in an even layer, season with salt, pepper, Italian herbs, granulated garlic and granulated onion. Once a good sear and browning develops, chop beef using a spatula, continue to sear and cook through.
  2. SAUCE and CHEESE. When no pink remains, add tomato sauce; chop sauce into beef. Arrange beef/marinara into about a 12-inch square, shingle provolone slices over beef. Once cheese has begun to melt, chop cheese into beef/marinara mixture until well distributed.
  3. BE THE HERO. Divide beef mixture into four equal portions. Using a spatula, scoop each portion into a hero roll, add parsley and serve.
