Ingredients:
  • 1 pound Certified Angus Beef ® ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 2 bell peppers (1 red and 1 yellow), deseeded and diced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon coarse kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 5 ounces white American cheese, cubed
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 6 to 8 slices Provolone cheese
  • 1 pack (6 to 8) hamburger buns
Instructions:
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Heat oil in a large sauté pan over medium-high heat; sear onions and peppers until they begin to soften.
  3. Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula to sear evenly. Sear 3 to 5 minutes to brown; break into smaller chunks as you cook until no pink remains.
  4. Pour in the Worcestershire, salt, pepper and garlic; stir to incorporate. Reduce heat to medium low, top beef with the American cheese cubes, let it begin to melt into the mixture for 2 to 3 minutes. While stirring, pour in the beef broth, a few tablespoons at a time, to keep the texture creamy. Turn off heat, cover and keep warm.
  5. On a large sheet tray lined with foil, lay out the buns, cut sides up. Place in oven to lightly toast, 2 to 3 minutes. Remove the tray from oven to build the sandwiches. Place sloppy joe meat on bottom buns and a slice of Provolone on top buns.
  6. Place tray back in oven for 2 more minutes to melt Provolone. Assemble and serve.
