Roast Roast

How to Roast Beef

Early cooks roasted meat over an open flame. Spit roasting allowed a beef roast (think prime rib or rib roast) to be cooked more evenly. With the invention of the modern oven, however, roasting has never been easier.

Here’s how it works:

  • Heat radiates from oven walls to cook the surface
  • Hot air in the oven transfers or convects heat into the meat
  • Beef’s heated exterior conducts heat to the inside

From preheating the oven and seasoning to resting after roasting, learn how to cook the perfect beef roast, prime rib, rib roast or other Certified Angus Beef ® brand cut. You’ll need a roasting pan and instant-read meat thermometer. To make it easier, use the Roast Perfect app.
