Prune Chutney
Share your great taste!
A delightful sweet and fruity condiment nicely flavored with onion, cinnamon, and allspice. Make this easy Prune Chutney recipe to serve with your favorite steak or roast.
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon oil
1 small shallot, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon yellow mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup prunes, chopped and re-hydrated with 1/4 cup warm water
1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
1 tablespoon sherry vinegar
Instructions:
Heat oil in a medium-sized sauté pan over medium heat.
Sauté shallot until tender (2 minutes); add mustard, salt, allspice and cinnamon. Simmer 1 more minute.
Add prunes with soaking water, sugar and vinegar; simmer an additional 5 minutes. Remove from heat, allow to cool and serve.
